Help answer the question about car insurance

Do car insurance companies know when you receive a moving violation?
When you ask for a new car insurance quote from your current or a new provider they always ask the question if you have been involved in an accident or have been pulled over recently etc, etc. My question is, do they already know this info and are they maybe testing me or do they really don't know? I've had two moving violations within the past 5 years and I'm wondering how to answer these questions when I shop for insurance on a new vehicle.

Some insurances will have lower rates if the car is classified as a sedan, with ABS and vehicle stability assistance (VSA) on it or with engine size being less than a V6. If the car has air-bags and other safety features then that will help lower the rate. Insurances will sometimes give lower rates for teens who are good students and have a higher GPA and have attended safe driving classes.

Well if you want something cheap on insurance, i would get a 4 door, there always cheaper. also don't get something that is meant to be fast. insurance rates will be insane. Im 18 years old and my insurance is $240 a month and i drive a 04 ford taurus. i only had one ticket but at this age one ticket will make it sky rocket. If i were you i would look into hondas. there cheap and they run for a long time. Either that or you could get a saturn there also decent cars for the price. look into saturn l300's there very nice and you can get a 2001 for less then $4,000 (it was my first car) good luck

    Hi Calista,

Yes they all check when your drivers license was issued.

I was 24 when I got my DL. I'm now 26 and I don't pay very much for full coverage on my new Mustang.

My dad found me a company that didn't penalize me for being a new driver but rewarded me for my good record.

I listed them below. Good Luck :)

I don't think that anybody pays only $20 a month. That's too little. If your parents add you to their policy, it will be much less then them paying for your own policy.
Ok, the drivers ed you took was taught by your parents? To save you a little money, take a state approved course, it will save a little in insurance. Keep your grades up, most companies do provide good-student discounts.
Sports cars are a no-no for a few years at least. They will drive up insurance, and you don't need one to have a good time driving around. Just make sure to keep yourself out of trouble. Stay at a reasonable speed and obey the laws. Tickets work magic on the price of insurance.
And probably the most obvious, get yourself a part time job. Nothing too crazy, something around 20 hours a week. You will most likely need money for gas, and it won't hurt to offer your parents a bit to help with insurance.

toyota or nissan are pretty dependable. Stay away from sports cars if you want low insurance rates, stick to the family sedans.
